Jean’s Silent Auction

Each year campers pack up their gently used craft supplies, not longer loved creative items, household goods and just plain weird stuff and we all buy it!

Started many years ago by camper Jean Hilmes, this annual event raises a wonderful amount of money to be used by 4-H Memorial Camp for the “extras”. Past purchases include an ice machine, craft tables, upgraded lighting, chairs, etc. It’s a wonderful way for our group to give back to a camp that has meant so much to so many for so long.

The premise is simple - pack up anything that your craft room doesn’t need any more and bring it with you. Got U.F.Os making you feel guilty? Patterns, books, supplies, entire bins of stamps, cardstock, yarn? You’ve tried it and are now tired of it - bring it with you.

It helps if you bag up like items with like items (example: yarn with yarn, needles with needles). When donating fabric, bag them together in like colors.

Drop off begins as soon as camp starts. Then a wonderful team of volunteers gather, organize and price the items with bid times scattered throughout the length of camp. Payment is in cash at the time the auction end.
