On Saturdays We Wear PJs!
One of the best things about a retreat is the relaxed atmosphere while going full throttle on the work and fun. So when our camp theme one year was all about the p.j.s we decided that it was so much fun we decided to dedicate our first full day as Pajama Day.
-

Puzzle Place
We’ve set aside some tables with two theme puzzles. Hang out or just walk by and place a piece or two. It’s another opportunity to relax and meet fellow puzzlers

Jean's Silent Auction
One woman’s trash is another gal’s treasures! Read more about this AMAZING annual event under ‘what to bring’!
Bottom line, start collecting all UFO’s and no longer loved craft supplies as well a gently used household items…. because we make money for the camp from all of it! Past fundraising successes have included the purchase of a new ice machine, more crafting tables, and this year curtains for the cabins.
-

Table Decorating
Each year friends and cabin mates get together to decorate Sunday night dinner tables with their special interpretation of the theme for that year. As of 2024 we even have a special trophy awarded to the winning table with runner up awards for 2nd and 3rd place finishes. It’s a friendly competition designed to open the door to another avenue of creativity.

As if eight delicious meals aren’t quite enough we thought we should have MORE FOOD….. err we mean MORE FUEL! Bring your favorite work snacks to share -whether home baked or in a bag we love it all. Philanthropy #1
In 2025 we collected a variety of hand crafted items to be given out at Christmas to care-givers through Piatt County Family Services. We also collected personal hygiene items and cleaning products for this worthy cause.
Campers also created Lap blankets, ditty bags, knitted gloves and scarves. We had a representative of this great cause at camp to collect our much needed and much appreciated donations.
Check back here early spring of 2026 to see our (totally voluntary) ideas for camp this year!
-

Philanthropy #2
In 2025 we created almost 100 Pocket Prayer Quilts. Using our Class format we squared off pocket size pieces of fabric, added fusible prayerful sayings and words of encouragement. Campers added embellishments, buttons and a small wooden cross.
We donated these to the Family Services of Piatt County as part of their Holiday gift bags to caregivers.
Again, our efforts are done on a voluntary basis with no pressure to participate. We have found that with extra time, materials and talents, our group enjoys creating these donations as a way to give back using what we already have on hand!

On Going Contributions
Each year proceeds from our Silent Auction and Raffle Ticket Sales are donated to the 4-H Memorial Camp General Fund.
In the past these funds have been used to purchase a new ice machine, additional tables and chairs as well as contributing towards the electric cords used for our projects.
This past year not only were we able to make a $1000 donation but we purchased new divider tarps for all the camper bathrooms. These will be delivered and installed the week after our camp.
We also purchased fabric to replace the last of the cabin curtains that needed love. We will be sewing these at camp this year and handing them over to the staff!
